Merge before you Purge

ACT! let’s you merge and remove duplicate records (must have Admin or Manager User Access).  How do duplicate records occur? Duplicates can be created by imports or by syncing with another database. It’s also possible that someone inadvertently created the duplicate and they may have added Notes, Sales Opportunities, or Activities to that record. You want to merge all of the contact record information before you delete the duplicate.

Step-by-step

Here is a brief screencast  (no audio)  demonstrating the process. Happy merging!

Find more duplicates in your ACT! database

ACT!’s duplicate checker finds only exact matches. That means it won’t recognize Jon Smith and John Smith of Acme Fireworks as a duplicate contact record.  BUT! –  there are third-party duplicate checking apps that use fuzzy logic and provide a higher degree of control. You can find sophisticated duplicate checking tools at the actaddons store (affiliate).  Visit actaddons.com and enter “duplicate” in the search field.
