Social Media – Don’t forget your water wings

Have you just started to dip your toes into the social media waters? If so, then you’ve probably experienced the tsunami effect. There are countless social media channels and so many ways to connect that you can get swept away by its shear magnitude. However, ignoring the benefits of learning Twitter, Linked In and Facebook is not going to help you be more effective in business.LeadMaster-surfs-social-media If you want to improve sales and stay competitive, you need to learn to ride the wave!

In a business context, there are ways that social media tools are being unobtrusively integrated into business software. If you’re just getting started integrating social media into your marketing strategy, the best advice is to take it slow. There is no need to dive into every conversation or follow every tweet.

There are tools built into CRM and Contact Management systems, for example, that bring social media channels into a specific account management or contact management context.

As one example, we recently discovered a new “web Links” feature in LeadMaster – a lead management CRM SFA system – that can help you get more connected to the world, one person or company at a time. Since these are people and companies who are already in your database, using social media to learn more about them is a pretty smart thing to do.

To use Web Links, go to the record for that company and click on one of the links (Google Search, Google News, JigSaw, FaceBook, Blog Search, Twitter, Manta, LinkedIn, Spoke, etc.) and you’ll be taken directly to the results for that company.  You can also do the same thing for contacts. This single click can help you find a LinkedIn profile, driving directions, company information, and more.

We like software that makes life easier for salespeople by managing workflow steps with just a single click of the mouse. Web Links is a natural extension of that integrated simplicity.

Web Links are easily created by your database administrator. The graphic above shows some Web Links examples, but you’re not limited to this selection. If you’re a LeadMaster user, or considering becoming one, then definitely ask your database administrator to add this valuable tool.
